Creating Space & Life- It's Been A While

Image
Well, It has been a while since my last post. Going to do some quick recap of the past several months.    I  had a very busy August- September celebrating my sons wedding!  He tied the knot with his lovely bride and it was a beautiful celebration in the Upper Peninsula. They were married in a beautiful outdoor venue in the UP.  The location is called Belsolda Farm located in Marquette Mi (https://www.belsoldafarm.com/gallery) Between the location, ceremony and food, Bryce and Ally spent so much time and energy in making this their day perfect.   The day started out with everyone getting ready then heading for pictures by Lake Superior.  They did the first look, and after that they exchanged vows privately on the edge of the Lake.  I found out this is something couples are starting to do!  Loved the idea, and so glad those two could exchange vows in such an intimate personal moment together.  After that off to the venue.  They had the ceremony outside and reception in the barn located on

Remodel-Fun Part!

The best part of the re-model is the opportunity to re-decorate.  In Creating My Space I took the approach of re-furbishing old furniture and added new items too.  I know this isn't a new trend, but I still absolutely love it.  Buying re-furbished furniture or doing it yourself is one way of recycling. 😁   To start my re-decorating adventure.  I used a lot of different photos of different decorating schemes or styles that I liked.  What I found in doing this is a lot of the pictures were of bigger houses, bigger spaces. So I had to be careful in what I did.  I wanted my space to look clean and not cluttered, but get the same esthetic.  One of my favorite updates was the dinning area.  The picture on the left is my updated dinning space, the picture on the left was my inspiration. Thanks to Pinterest! The best way to find what you want is to be adventures.  My mom got me started on a barn sale trail in our area.  It happens 4 times year and we go together.  This has been the best

Creating Space & Life- Remodel

A few years back we were thinking about moving.   We were looking for a bigger house with some property.  After looking for almost a year in this crazy housing market we decided we would just create our dream home in our current space.  It was a great decision and we learned a lot!  My next couple blogs will be about how I decided to Create My Space. I wasn't just remolding for me, it was for my husband, for our future, and to make a place that was ours.   We may have been doing it for the dog too, he seems to love it! We updated our living room, kitchen and bath.  Some of this we hired out and some we did ourselves.    The first step was figuring out the color scheme.  I was painting the living room, kitchen, hallways and down to our finished basement. Pinterest was my by best friend in doing this.  I looked up the color schemes I liked and saved them to my remodel Pin.  Once I narrowed down the color scheme I was going with, I went and bought samples of those colors.  This ne

So, it begins. Creating Space & Life

So, I decided I'm going to blog about Creating Space & Life.  Not like outer space, or life like children.  But creating space in my life.  Fingering out what does my space look like, both physical and mentally.  What does this part of life feel like, what makes my life happy.  Being middle aged, getting both my bachelors and masters nontraditionally.  Having a child that is out of the house, who is getting ready to get married (so excited!).  Enjoying the outdoors doing many different activities.  Raising a giant goofy 2ry old dog and enjoying Retirement through my husband's eyes.  I have decided to blog about Creating Space & Life.   What Creating Space & Life means is how I have started to create My Space & Life.  This isn't going to get deep; I don't think 😉.  It's more of what's on my mind, how I contribute to others and society.  Sharing things, I have learned through my journey.   Maybe things I find fun, or I feel are interesting

Hello! Here We Go

Hello!  Well here goes nothing!  If you are reading this you might be wondering what I'm going to blog about. Before I dive into that, a little bit about me.  I'm  Nicole aka Nikkie.   Married to a wonderful man, one child a dog and a cat.  Education MBA.  My career, AVP working in the financial industry.  Hobbies; fishing, hunting, photography, traveling (like around my state, not a world traveler. Lol), and treating my dog as a second child because of empty nest syndrome.    That is Barkley! Okay, back to the blog.  I have been debating what to write about. I was about a half hour into the research before it  became overwhelming.  The first recommendation is to write about your passion.  What ever your passion is just write about it, post pictures, share quotes.  Don’t write about what other people have written about, so many blogs have been over done.  Start a new and interesting one about your passion…..  This got me thinking….  What is my passion??  To figure out what my p
